Hello to all our valued residents! As the cooler breeze sets in and winter wraps around Oklahoma, it's time for us to get ready for the season. Here at Lincoln Glens Apartments, we believe in fostering a warm and safe community. This guide is your go-to resource for staying snug, safe, and prepared during the winter months.
Below are some additional winter weather preparedness tips. If you would like more information on how to cope with winter weather in our community, please contact our property management team.
If you haven't already, check or replace smoke detector batteries to ensure they are functioning properly. If you have any time-sensitive maintenance issues, please contact our office or submit a service request via your Resident Web Access Portal.
Let your faucets drip slightly; this continuous water flow can help prevent pipes from freezing.
Keep cabinet doors open below sinks to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing.
Never leave a space heater on when leaving the room or going to bed to avoid any fire hazards.
If at all possible, stay home during winter storms. If you know you will need to travel, prepare your vehicle and know how to react if you are stranded on the road.
Regularly check the weather for your local area, your route, and your destination. This includes monitoring local media for any event closings or cancellations. Remember, winter weather can change rapidly, turning conditions hazardous.
Keep an eye on the road conditions, especially during winter storms. You can check the latest updates through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation's website at (OKDOT Road Condition Map). This will help you plan the safest route.
It's wise to keep your fuel tank at least half full during winter. This not only ensures you have enough fuel for your journey but also helps prevent your vehicle's fuel line from freezing.
Have your car winterized by checking antifreeze, washer blades, tire pressure, etc.
Carry a fully charged cell phone with you. Save the number for emergency roadside assistance. In case of an emergency on Oklahoma roads, you can reach the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at *55 or dial 911.
Be particularly cautious on bridges and overpasses as they tend to freeze first. Reducing speed and avoiding sudden turns or stops can help prevent accidents.
If you live in a community managed by TMC Property Management that has onsite management and maintenance please be advised:
The offices may be closed during winter storms, and our employees may or may not be able to serve you remotely.
If you do have an emergency work order, our teams will make every attempt to try and assist you, or reach out to local vendors if they are unable. Please be mindful that if they cannot get to you during a storm, you may need to have an alternative plan for emergency back-up access to food and shelter.
Should you experience a power outage in your area, please be aware that the office staff are unable to assist. Please stay informed by local city authorities and service personnel on current power outages. (Check Current Outages)
Should phone and internet lines fail, please be aware you may not be able to contact your on-site team. We will stay informed and proactive in finding solutions and ways to communicate with our residents.
Encourage neighbors to check on each other, especially the elderly and those living alone.
We recommend building an at-home "Emergency Kit" with the following essentials: flashlights, batteries, a well-stocked first-aid kit, and sufficient non-perishable food supplies. Additional items like blankets, warm clothing, and a list of emergency contacts are also recommended.
Proactive Snow and Ice Management:
Our dedicated maintenance team is equipped and ready to respond quickly to snowfall and icy conditions. We use a combination of advanced equipment and proven techniques to ensure all common areas are cleared and safe for use.
Please be aware that upon request and subject to availability, our on-site team is prepared to provide ice melt or salt for residents' use.
We encourage all residents to report any areas of concern, like slippery breeezeways or uncleared common areas, to our maintenance team. Your reports help us address issues more quickly and keep the community safe for everyone.
24/7 Availability: Understanding the unpredictability of winter weather, our management and maintenance teams are available 24/7 to address any emergencies or concerns. Whether it's a heating issue or any other emergency, we are just a call away.
